Cars in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were contacted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis show the substance was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.

A senior representative said the attack left him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
